WOW… I can’t believe I am finally able to sit down and just blog!!! I decided to join the fun over at Amy’s Creative Side and join in the Virtual Quilt festival.
I was able to finish binding my feather’s quilt sometime during the Alison Glass blog hop… but not fast enough to share its finished photographs for it. Did anyone get to see it during the Alison Glass Schoolhouse or at the Robert Kaufman Kona display at Quilt Market? This was my first time using exclusively solids and I honestly can say it won’t be my last. I absolutely adore this quilt.
Here are my colors just in case you wanted to know:
KONA- Steel, Nautical, Mulburry
KONA- Steel, Nautical, Mulburry, Hibiscus, Curry
The quilt is 55×66. It was professionally quilted by Emily Sessions of Emerson Quilting. We discussed that I wanted to have it doodled all over the background so that the feathers actually pop… and WOW. Do you see all the details and dimension in there… I am just smitten.
The quilt pattern can be purchased in a number of places but here it is in Alison’s shop. November 15th we will be announcing a Feather’s QAL! So if you like the pattern I would love it if you would join us. But don’t worry the work doesn’t start until January.
Here is the back in all its glory… Some days I love the yellow and I say “I am so glad I was brave and went there….” and other times… “WHAT was I thinking.” This was one of those quilt backs that went from planned to unplanned in .5 seconds. It was supposed to just be stripes… But I opted to throw in the diagonal slashes to give it a more “feathers” look.
